The sound of a guitar pick-up in all it’s simplicity is a combination of many factors of course. Inductance, DC resistance, magnets and resistivity of the material just to name few. Koivisto Custom pick-ups are all handwound. This is how it’s possible to affect the wanted tone during ordering. For example output power, colour of tone, balance of the strings. Also the appearance and size can be altered or to make entirely a new pick-up you can’t get from the ordinary guitar shop for example a two string bass guitar pick-up with exact location of polemagnets.

I also make replacement pick-ups. Stratocaster, Telecaster, P-90, Humbuckersized P-90, Humbucker pick-ups.  Also matched sets.

I can also repair your old pick-up or entirely rewind it. If your pick-up squeals bring it for was potting.

• Icreasing DC resistance mainly increases output power and decreases high and ephasizes mids. That is, if we keep all the other aspects the same(magnets, coil wire thickness etc.)
• AlNiCo 3 or 4 or 5
• Non staggered  vintage staggered as customer preferred.
• Sets made of RW/RP mid pickup to cancel the hum in positions 2 and 4(strat), Mid pick-up magnets North

• Icreasing DC resistance mainly increases output power and decreases high and ephasizes mids. That is, if we keep all the other aspects the same(magnets, coil wire thickness etc.)
• 2 Alnico 3 or 4 or 5 or ceramic-magnets  Fairly powerful pick-up which is rounder than KCS but still maintaining the single coil clarity.
• Set comes with balanced wound and RW/RP neck pick-up.

All Koivisto Custom pick-ups are waxpotted to prevent high pitched squeal. If your pick-up squeals it might be because of the improperiate wax potting.
